We know that strong schools make a significant contribution to a community's health. We have a close relationship with our area schools and have helped one another through many projects.
Continue and expand on school support projects, to:
Help improve the quality of our schools and key programs
Help both educators and students succeed in school
Link Millersville residents and students to work together and learn from each other
Past programs include a service and learning day for elementary school groups at the Millersville Preserve and Kesslerwood Senior Living, volunteering at our neighborhood Halloween "Trunk or Treat," helping with "Field Day" and hosting Indianapolis Symphonic Band summer concerts at Public School 106, teacher appreciation notes and gifts, and working often with Cathedral High School students whose many hours of service have helped make our community park the beautiful place it is.
There are many ways you can help!
Volunteers in our schools could work in the classroom; proctor during testing; help with events or other special activities; donate incentive prizes or cash for teacher recognition, luncheons or gifts; work on campus flower beds; and more. At Cathedral, you could speak on Career Day or work alongside students outdoors in our community park or other parts of the village.
We need a new leader for this initiative now, too, since I have signed on as M@FCV president!
How about you?
