New Taco Bell Coming to Millersville
Our board has since met in person with Taco Bell representatives and expressed some additional concerns. The owners have agreed to consider: monument (ground) signage instead of a pole sign, somewhat reduced late-night hours given crime and safety concerns, and an alternate exit pattern to help relieve traffic congestion on Emerson Way. The board also enlisted support from our City-County Councillor Christine Scales who has followed up with the Taco Bell team herself to share similar concerns and additional thoughts and insight.
This Taco Bell is owned by Bell American Group, a locally-based company who owns and operates hundreds of Taco Bells, and is part of a highly successful group that also owns many Panera and Applebee's restaurants.
A new Taco Bell is coming to Millersville!
Brian Dinius, owner of Dinius Automotive, on the northeast corner of 56th Street and Emerson Way, is selling the property to a company planning to build a new Taco Bell restaurant on the site.
The property is already zoned C-3, allowing for this commercial use. Indianapolis City Planning has no objections to the use and is approving a 2017 request
for variance on setbacks that involve only City right-of-way encroachments. In Millersville, our board had no technical objection to the 2017 setback variance as the new site plan resolved issues we raised in 2015 regarding the parking and lack of landscaping. We appreciate modifications the owners made to the plan to ensure full landscaping with sidewalks, in spite of limited space.
